More Mo'Ju More Mo'Ju

Mo'Ju has announced that their fourth album, Oro, Plata, Mata, will be released on 24 March via Virgin Music.

The record is inspired by and pays homage to Mo'Ju's late Tito (uncle) Peque Gallaga, with the album title referencing the 1982 historical war drama he directed.

The Filipino/Wiradjuri artist is releasing the first single from the record, Money, which dissects how capitalism takes hold of our lives. In a statement, Mo'Ju revealed: "I’ve been reflecting on capitalism and the way at times I’ve felt like a captive of it, but simultaneously, I’ve been totally complicit in it. It’s about the constant hustle and the way it undermines the things in life that are actually important." Money is out on digital streaming platforms tomorrow.

Oro, Plata, Mata arrives after Mo'Ju's very special performances at the Opera House for Sydney WorldPride in February before heading to Melbourne for a one-night-only concert at Hamer Hall alongside the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.

Today, Mo'Ju shares that they will perform their new album front-to-back for the first time at those concerts.

"I will be playing this entire album, start to finish, with both the Sydney and Melbourne Symphony Orchestras," they said. "There will be a bit of a retrospective of my work over the last 10 years as well - I will be touching on something from every record I’ve made.

"BUT the thing I am excited about most of all, is having the opportunity to present this whole album to an audience with both orchestras… This the very first time anyone will hear this album, not just live, but before the record even drops. I’m so excited that people will hear it like this and hopefully have the memory forever. That doesn’t happen every day.”

Inspired by their culture, including the Wiradjuri people and their Filipino ancestry, Mo'Ju's music is highly personal and speaks of generational injustice that pulls at the heartstrings. Their previous single, Change Has To Come, is a powerful plea for political change and for all people to unite.

A keen supporter of the LGBTQIA+ community, the singer/songwriter also writes about their own experiences within those spaces and has won the coveted crown of Rainbow Champion in conjunction with WorldPride for their outstanding contribution to the Australian LGBTQIA+ community and culture.
