Katy Perry & London Grammar To Jostle Over Who Gets To Lose To Ed Sheeran On ARIA Chart

Overseas talent looks set to continue filling up the pointy end of the ARIA Albums Chart, with new releases from Katy Perry and London Grammar set to make a decent impact come week's end.

Both Perry and the soon-to-tour trio are expected to see top-three results for their respective new full-lengths, Witness and Truth Is A Beautiful Thing, though it's unlikely — not impossible, but unlikely — either will unseat apparently eternal #1 holder Ed Sheeran (÷ [Divide]).

In fact, Sheeran's previous album, X (2014), looks likely to move back into the top 10 to boot, while his recent single Castle On The Hill is expected to re-enter the top 20, his insatiable hunger for Australian adulation only growing with each ensuing week.

Casting a broader eye, it's expected that both Rise Against (Wolves) and Lady Antebellum (Heart Break) will place in the top five, while Hillsong United's unshakeable faith should carry their new full-length Wonder to a healthy landing somewhere in the top 10.

Other notable debuts ought to come from Lindsey Buckingham & Christine McVie, whose self-titled record looks a shoe-in for the top 20, while Phoenix (Ti Amo) is likely to make the top 40, and punk vets Rancid (Trouble Maker) the top 50.

There should be some movement across the board, too, as expected boosts are set to come for Keith Urban (Ripcord, probable top 25 result), Taylor Swift (1989, probable top 30), and Kaleo's A/B and the Suicide Squad soundtrack (both probable top 40). Kaleo are also set to make some headway with their single Way Down We Go, a likely appearance in the top 50 on its horizon.

Meanwhile, pop prince Justin Bieber is set to bolster his presence on the Singles chart, with his featured role on David Guetta's 2U likely to see him join himself and DJ Khaled's I'm the One (with Quavo, Chance The Rapper and Lil Wayne) in the top three.

Also of note, veteran sister act The Veronicas should crack the top 50 on debut with The Only High, while French Montana's Unforgettable ought to yield a similar result. Expect to see upward shots from Childish Gambino's Redbone too.
