"This one is my cowboy record. Cowboy is a term of endearment to me, I use it often when referring to people in my life."

More Mac DeMarco More Mac DeMarco

It's felt like a lot longer but Mac DeMarco's follow-up to 2017's This Old Dog is finally here.

Dubbed Here Comes The Cowboy, the album's titled comes from a place of affection for DeMarco.

"This one is my cowboy record. Cowboy is a term of endearment to me, I use it often when referring to people in my life," he shares. "Where I grew up there are many people that sincerely wear cowboy hats and do cowboy activities. These aren’t the people I’m referring to."

Album highlights include Choo Choo which The Music reviewer Matt MacMaster describes as "sublimely ridiculous and damn catchy, its stoned, lightweight funk shuffling along, punctuated by a massive gong, brilliantly illuminating the retro vibe it's going for" and K which is "wonderfully sweet, existing on its own sheltered little atoll".

The album was born out of an incredibly rainy two week period in Los Angeles in early January, where it was written, tracked and mixed at DeMarco's Jizz Jazz Studios, with DeMarco playing just about every instrument you hear on the LP.
