Paul McCartney has confirmed his 17th solo studio album, Egypt Station, will be released on 7 September.

The Beatles legend's first full solo LP since 2013 will also include the newly-released double A-side single, I Don't Know/Come On To Me.

"I liked the words ‘Egypt Station'," McCartney said of the album title.

"It reminded me of the ‘album’ albums we used to make… Egypt Station starts off at the station on the first song and then each song is like a different station. So it gave us some idea to base all the songs around that. I think of it as a dream location that the music emanates from."

Recorded between LA, London and Sussex, the announcement of Egypt Station comes only months after McCartney toured Australia in what was his first run of the country since 1993.
