The First Radio Ratings For 2018 Are In - Here's How Your Favourite Station Kicked Off The Year

The first radio ratings for 2018 have been released this morning and it has delivered some shake-ups and some expected results.

sydney

Thanks to some healthy increases across the board, triple j's overall weekday share has increased by 1.8% to chart a 6.7% score. The youth broadcaster enjoyed nice boosts in all slots, including breakfast (up 1.2%) and morning 2.9%.

The latest shuffle to 2DayFM's breakfast line-up has also started off positively; though it's still positioned at the bottom of the FM breakfast ladder, the station increased by 0.6% for an overall share of 3.4%. KIIS1065's Kyle & Jackie O remain the city's most-listened to FM breakfast show with an overall share of 10.0%

However, WSFM has taken out the FM crown for Sydney to start 2018, posting an overall weekday share of 9.0%.

melbourne

The results weren't as kind for triple j in the Melbourne market, with drops throughout some important slots seeing the station drop 0.6% for an overall weekday share of 4.8%; however the weekday slot did enjoy an increase of 1.2%.

Meanwhile, thanks to some massive spike across the board, 101.9 Fox Fm's overall weekday share has increased by a whopping 2.4% to 10.8%, making it the city's most-listened to FM station, ahead of Smooth FM's score of 10.3%.

brisbane

Much like Melbourne, triple j only experienced an increase in the weekend slot, while all other categories dropped, resulting in an overall weekday share of 8.4%.

Nova 106.9 has managed to fend off the competition and retain the #1 position for FM stations in the city, posting a 12.6% overall weekday share, ahead of 97.3 FM in second place with a 12.1% share.

perth

Triple J had its biggest outing in Perth for the first survey of 2018, with huge increases across the board helping it post an overall share of 10.8%; up 2.2% from the final survey of 2017.

The broadcaster saw big spikes on the weekend slot (up 3.2%), afternoon (up 2.9%), drive (up 1.1%) and breakfast (up 1.0%).

However, Mix 94.5 could not be denied the FM crown for Perth, posting a massive overall share of 15.7%, while also claiming top spot for the breakfast slot.

adelaide

Triple J has remained steady in Adelaide and increased its overall weekday share by 0.3%, despite dropping 1.1% in breakfast. 

Mix 102.3 remains the city's most-listened to station by leaps and bounds though, posting an overall weekday share of 16.1%, well ahead of Triple M in second spot with 10.6%.

Mix topped nearly all categories, including breakfast (15.1%) and drive (15.2%).
