The First Trailer For 'Gurrumul' Documentary Has Been Revealed

The first trailer has been revealed today for Gurrumul, a documentary in celebration of iconic Australian artist Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu.

The powerful trailer dips into the revered artist’s struggle to balance his worldwide acclaim with what mattered most to him back in Australia.

Yunupingu’s music, inspired by his community on Elcho Island in far North East Arnham Land, reached all away across the globe with the film following the singer as he tried to balance his newfound fame with the life that he knew.

The film will have its international premiere at the 2018 Berlin Film Festival in February before being released in cinemas nationally from 26 April, 2018.

Yunupingu passed away in July of last year following a long battle with illness.
