That didn't last long.
After lasting just 18 months, the struggling Rove & Sam show has officially been axed.
The Hit Network duo of Rove McManus and Sam Frost was brought in to revive the station's fading breakfast slot but due to continued low ratings, they were demoted to evening shift at the beginning of this year.
News.com.au has reported that the show will conclude following its final broadcast tonight, despite McManus and Frost being contracted to Southern Cross Austereo for another 18 months.
"Rove and Sam’s 7-8 pm show on the Hit Network will finish up today, June 30," a statement from the Hit Network reads.
"Rove’s remaining within the SCA family and working on a new project with another part of our business. Sam’s contract has now ended and we wish her well with her upcoming TV work."
Rumours broke late last year that McManus is working on making a comeback on late night television with Channel Nine.
