Bass-and-drum behemoths Royal Blood have announced a one-off Splendour In The Grass sideshow for their upcoming Australian visit.

The UK duo — individually, bassist/vocalist Mike Kerr and drummer Ben Thatcher — will hit Sydney's Metro Theatre ahead of their commitment at the festival, so suffice to say: if you're not in Sydney, you're out of luck.

The band were last in the country back in 2014, when they were still a nascent force whose prodigious potential had not yet been fully realised; fast-forward to now and, with a ream of international support, headline and festival spots under their belt, as well as eagerly awaited second album How Did We Get So Dark? on the way — it's set for release on 16 June via Warner Music — and it's a safe assumption that tickets for this show are fixing to fly out the door as local fans trip over themselves lining up to bear witness to the pair's long-awaited return.

Royal Blood will be joined for their outing at the Metro Theatre by Brissy garage-skate-rock four-piece Concrete Surfers, who have enjoyed considerable momentum off the back of last year's debut EP, No More.
