"I have been in a coma for two weeks, had 8 operations and am covered in pins and bolts in my bones."

Following news emerging late last month that founding member of Sydney DJ collective Bang Gang, Dan Single (Dangerous Dan), had fallen three floors from a Paris balcony, Single has spoken out for the first time about his condition, and has asked fans for financial help.

Single, who also founded popular denim label Ksubi, writes on a GoFundMe page that, "YES! Everything you have heard is true.

"I fell 3 floors (35metres) out of my hotel room in Paris, did a sumersault [sic] and landed on my feet which saved my spine and my brain (a miracle says the doctor, 1 in 100 million chance).

"I did however shatter every bone from my feet to my hips and pelvis. I have been in a coma for two weeks, had 8 operations and am covered in pins and bolts in my bones."

Single's GoFundMe page — titled 'SHIT GOT REAL' — asks fans to donate $250,000 to "help fund the hospital bill, rehab bill, early flights home, being unable to make bread and work over the next months and all the incedentals [sic] the family is covering at the moment".

However, as Pedestrian.TV points out, the fundraising page has only raised a meagre $460 of its $250,000 goal, with a number of donations as little as $5 and numerous comments questioning Single and his wife Bambi Northwood-Blyth's inability to fund hospital bills when they flaunt lavish designer goods and extensive travel on their social media channels.

An anonymous donation writes, "How come you can fund partying, drinking and overseas trips but not your own recovery? Not content with a fundraiser ball, you now want to scrounge from the general public? I'll give you $5 with the sole intent of telling you what an idiot everyone thinks you are."

Another says, "I am also leaving $5. I am sorry you are hurt, it could happen to anyone, and I do not wish you ill. You should realise however that you project the image of a very immature man. You won't be "given" 250K; it's seems self-delusional, greedy and grasping. There are people truely deserving of financial assistance and your downfall (no pun meant) appears to have been brought about as a result of your own well-documented history of hedonistic behaviour. Take this down b4 too many people see it and stop believing your own PR."

Fairfax reports that a representative from Single's agency could not confirm or deny the authenticity of the GoFundMe page and said, "I can't comment on that today, sorry."
