Welcome back.
Iconic Melbourne landmark, The Esplanade Hotel, has reportedly been sold and is set to be revamped in an effort to restore it as one of the country’s best live music venues.
According to The Age, the St Kilda venue has been purchased by hotel owner, Sand Hill Road, which already owns a number of big-name establishments like Terminus Hotel in Richmond and Prahran Hotel.
The deal is expected to be finalised this week and The Age have reported that the new owners will start making some major changes to the Espy, while also re-establishing it as a major live music venue.
The Espy originally closed in May 2015, with talks of renovations eventually cleared by council in December of that year.

Plans for a new rooftop terrace are also expected to be scrapped in favour of a revamp of the beer garden to near the entrance of the venue.
