You’d think a statewide power outage and emergency services urging people to stay home would be grounds to cancel any gigs, but A$AP Ferg had different plans last night in Adelaide.

The entire state went dark around 3.55pm SA time yesterday, with ticketholders thrown into uncertainty as to whether the rapper's Listen Out sideshow at The Gov would go ahead, until Ferg confirmed via Twitter the show was happening, ”black out or not” and that punters better “bring candles and flashlights”.

Battling the elements to make the show, fans were delivered a “flawless”, once in a lifetime gig, with The Music’s Jenny Nguyen saying the room was full.

“The weather was intense, very harsh winds that could be heard during the So Far So Gone DJs warm up,” Nguyen said.

Getting to the venue was tricky because there were no streetlights, no traffic lights and the roads were wet, it was raining heavily."

Ferg performed for around an hour, inviting two audience members onstage to freestyle rap, and Marty Baller for a couple more.

The Gov also said the weather was intense throughout the show, but the power came back on during Ferg’s final song.

“We had extra security on and made sure all out exits were up and running. Crowd safety was paramount to us,” The Gov’s Sarah Mooney told theMusic.com.au.

The Gov managed to pull off a pretty impressive feat, locking a generator and lighting from Apollo Lighting — which arrived stressfully late due to traffic.

“Our full intention was to make it happen at whatever cost...Ferg was quite intent on performing and I think they dug the vibe of a blackout gig."

“When he came in with the encore [New Level], it was probably the anthem of the night.”

A$AP Ferg continues his Listen Out appearances this weekend, hitting up Sydney this Saturday and Brisbane on Sunday. Check out theGuide for more info.
