Rolf Harris Charged With Another Seven Counts Of Indecent Assault

Convicted predator Rolf Harris is facing charges in the United Kingdom over a further seven counts of indecent assault.

As the ABC reports, Harris has been charged by the UK's Metropolitan Police for a string of new alleged offences — which relate to seven complainants and include three against girls aged 14 or younger and four against women aged between 16 and 27 years of age — said to have taken place between 1971 and 2004.

The new charges have come about a year-and-a-half after the 12 counts (against four victims) of which he was found guilty and for which he was imprisoned in 2014, with Metropolitan Police confirming the news in a statement explaining the charges were based on the collection of evidence as part of 'Operation Yewtree', which commenced in 2012 with the intent of investigating claims of sexual abuse, particularly against children.

"Having completed our review … we have concluded that there is sufficient evidence and it is in the public interest for Mr Harris to be charged with seven counts of indecent assault," the Metro Police statement said.

Harris recently caused controversy from behind bars — where he is serving a five-year, nine-month sentence for the crimes of which he was found guilty — by announcing his intent to release a 'comeback' album, tentatively titled Justice For All, that specifically addresses his accusers and victims.

In the wake of his 2014 conviction, Harris was stripped of his ARIA Hall Of Fame honours, in addition to having his BAFTA fellowship revoked.

He is due to face the Westminster Magistrates Court on 17 March.
