Paris Music Venue Release First Statement Following Shootings

The Paris music venue where 87 people were killed and hundreds more were injured during an Eagles Of Death Metal gig have issued their first public statement since the weekend's horrific attacks. 

Taking to their official Facebook page, the Bataclan hall expressed their condolences to all were involved in the siege. 

When translated to English, the statement reads, "[There are] no words sufficient to express the magnitude of our grief."

"Our thoughts are with the victims, the wounded and their relatives. Many of you want to come inside to pay their respect/grieve; unfortunately authorities still need to work on site. We will keep you informed when it will be possible to come to grieve/pray/pay respect at the venue."

Understandably, EODM have cancelled the remaining dates of their European tour, while a number of other high profile bands and artists have pulled out of playing shows in Paris over the coming days, including U2, Motorhead, Marilyn Manson and Deftones.

Meanwhile, fans have rallied behind the US rock act in the wake of the tragedy by campaigning to get the band's cover of Duran Duran's Save A Prayer to #1 on the UK Singles Chart.
