Eagles Of Death Metal have unsurprisingly cancelled the rest of their European tour following the deadly attack on the venue they were performing at in Paris on Friday night.

The American band, fronted by Jesse Hughes, were an hour into their set when four ISIS supporters laid siege to the Bataclan hall, spraying the audience with gunfire - killing 87 and injuring hundreds more — before killing themselves with 'suicide belts'.

Relatives of band members have reported that the group are safe. But today it was announced that they would not go on with the tour that was meant to include another French gig on the weekend before heading to play in Brussels. Gigs had been booked in through to December.

A statement was released via the tour promoters Nous Productions. The brief statement reported that the band are returning immediately to the US.

Billboard has now also reported that Thomas Ayad, an international product manager for Mercury Records is amongst those killed at the concert. EODM are represented by Mercury France in that country.

Universal Music Group CEO Lucian Grainge confirmed Ayad's death with a moving note that described Friday night's events as "an unspeakably appalling tragedy", adding: "We extend our deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims as well as our fervent wishes for healing for all of those affected by this senseless violence."

[UPDATE] Universal Music Group's French CEO Pascal Negre has tweeted that two young staff members also died in the attack. [Correction: This figure was originally reported erroneously as three.]

French music journalist William B Decherf was also among those killed at the show on Friday night.

NME have also just confirmed that the first Briton reported dead in the seige is EODM's merch seller Nick Alexander.

Also, US rockers Deftones have cancelled their run of three shows at the Bataclan that was set to commence Saturday night. Members of the band and their crew had been in attendance at the EODM gig but left before the attack. They are believed to be returning home immediately as well.
