Stalwart Brisbane outfit The Creases are due to kick off a five-date headline tour of the country from this Thursday but, thanks to somebody's scummy actions, there's an added element of stress and lousiness to the lead-up after guitarist Jarrod Mahon had several instruments stolen following a break-in at his East Brisbane home.

The band spread the word on social media this morning, asking locals to stay vigilant "if you … find yourself in any pawn shops, Cash Converters or even browsing Gumtree or eBay", and highlighting the stolen guitars — a mint Squier Jaguar, a cream-and-white Vox Teardop, a white-and-red Fender Mustang, and a sunburst Fender Telecaster.

The band went on to explain not only the practical setbacks wrought by the theft (what with their tour due to start in Sydney on 15 October) but the additional heartache, given the equipment's sentimental value to Mahon.

"Some of these guitars Jarrod's owned since he was very young and have been used live and on recordings in Creases since the beginning," the band wrote.

"It's devastating for Jarrod & all of us to lose all this equipment, especially a week out from our headline tour beginning. Please share with anybody that can help."

See the band's post, with a series of photos of the missing instruments, below, and if you're in the Brisbane area and frequenting the sorts of outlets where used goods appear with minimal questions being asked, keep your eyes peeled for your mates in The Creases, yeah? Otherwise, help 'em out by spreading the word.
