It's been speculated ever since the newly-released NWA biopic, Straight Outta Compton began production that the boys from Compton were planning a reunion and after the surviving members performed a live one-off show in the US this past June, those rumours have only gotten stronger.

Speaking exclusively to theMusicIce Cube, currently in Australia promoting the film alongside his son O'Shea Jackson Jr, revealed that he wants to get the gang back together for another run.

"Aw man, I would love it," Cube says, with a rare smile.

"I don’t know if it can feel, without [Eazy-E], like, THE reunion."

Just last month it was rumoured that Eminem would join the group as a replacement for the late rapper, who died in 1995 after being diagnosed with AIDS, for a string of live shows in Europe this year however Universal Pictures quickly squashed speculation.

Cube says he would love to make new music with the group's surviving members which include Dr Dre, MC Ren and DJ Yella.

"Why can’t me Ren and Dre do records together that people love…get Yella back there."

The film is blowing up in the US and has not only topped the box office for three straight weeks, but it has also become the highest grossing US biopic of all time.

As for talk of a sequel, believed to revolve around the rise of rappers including Tupac and Snoop Dogg who are portrayed with small cameos in the film, Cube did his best to keep quiet on the subject.

"You’re asking me about a sequel?" he laughs.

"Man, I'm trying to get the first one sold in Australia!"
