Resurgent Aussie musician Daniel Johns has explicitly addressed the prospect of ever reforming his successful rock outfit Silverchair, telling The Music today that he is "adamant" about focusing on his solo career.

"I can 100% guarantee [the reunion] won't be happening."

Asked by The Music's National Editor, Mark Neilsen, about the now-debunked rumours that defunct local outfits Silverchair, Jet and Powderfinger had been approached by AC/DC with an offer of "a mountain of cash" to reform for their forthcoming Australian tour, Johns not only reaffirmed his representative's earlier statement that the band would not be taking part, but suggested that he had been totally unaware such a deal was even on the cards.

"I literally read that as I was walking in to do this interview," Johns said. "Like, literally was reading it and that's the first I'd heard of it … So, yeah, I don't know anything about that, but I can 100% guarantee that won't be happening."

Explaining that the decision is "not about the cash", Johns said that he is perfectly content being a solo artist, and that any potential reunion for Silverchair would be something to worry about way down the line, "if ever, to be honest".

"I don't want to blur that line," Johns said. "I've been pretty adamant, pretty serious about having a really interesting career as an artist, a solo artist too, so to release a solo record and then reform for an AC/DC thing, that's just blurring a line for me."

"So, I think you can safely print that that won't be happening," Johns laughed. "Not even for a million bucks."

Daniel Johns will perform the first of two Vivid LIVE shows at the Sydney Opera House in honour of his debut full-length, Talk, on Thursday, 28 May, backing up the following evening for round two. See theGuide or check The Music App for more information.
