Get A Better Night's Rest With 'Space Music' From One Of Saturn's Moons

It's good for what ails you

There seems to be something of a trend emerging lately in terms of music (or "music") being produced with the specific goal of putting people to sleep. Even Jeff Bridges took a turn at it recently, and now Arkansas creative Crysknife007, aka Cheesy Nirvosa, has created an hour-long sleep-aid album crafted entirely from modified emissions from the moon Enceladus, Saturn's sixth-largest satellite.

Available to stream for free or download for US$2 ($2.60) on Cheesy Nirvosa's Bandcamp page, the Enceladus sleep-aid runs for 60 minutes exactly and is, according to its creator, "a specially formulated ambient sleep sound created with actual electromagnetic emissions produced by Enceladus which have been transformed into space music".

"This deep bass relaxation noise morphs around for an hour as it lulls you to sleep, helps you focus at work, gets you studying, or helps put the baby to bed."

We can't even begin to pretend like we understand the science that goes into making something like this, but outer space and better sleep are the best, so we're into it. Queue it up before you hit the pillow and see if it helps.

Cheesy Nirvosa sourced the original sound samples from NASA in order to create the Enceladus track, which forms part of the muso's broader and longer Ethereal Material LP, which features "eight full hours of EM sleep sounds from other celestial sources". The artist describes his specialty as "extended ambient space and spaceship sounds", and says he "also enjoys working with other sci-fi soundscapes".

He's not kidding, either — his YouTube page is filled with ambient sci-fi sounds, including a 12-hour variant of the Enceladus sleep aid, 24 hours of background Star Trek noises, and 12 straight hours of Ms Pac-Man making the "wakka wakka" sound (also regular Pac-Man), because some men really do just want to watch the world burn.
