You spoke, we listened ... The Music App 2.0 has arrived at last!

TheMusic.com.au is building on the early success of its mobile app and gig guide with the release of The Music App 2.0, a major version update to the existing platform designed to make it easier than ever to organise nights out and stay up-to-date with what's happening in your city and across the country.

Users with automatic updates active on their phone would have woken up to the ream of new app features this morning but, for those yet to update or download the app (in which case, get on it), the difference is immediately noticeable, with a significant redesign to the app's home screen now providing streamlined navigation as well as immediate access to the latest news being posted to the site.

Additionally, it's easier than ever to find gigs and other goings-on near you, with the app able to perform a sweep of happenings within a 1km, 3km, 5km or 10km radius in conjunction with its wider search capabilities.

Further, the redesigned app — created in collaboration with developer Pete Kavanagh of The 404 Workshop — allows users to search for all gigs at a particular venue, or all gigs by a particular artist, as well as gaining access to streamlined event, information and news databases for both people and places, plus the ability to mark your Favourites, for quicker and easier access than ever before to the information that matters to you.

The Music's managing director, Craig Treweek, said of the app's eagerly awaited overhaul: "It was great to work closely with Pete Kavangah of The 404 Workshop to work on the feedback from Version 1 of The Music App and put in place its versatile new features and increased usability.

"Our ongoing work with Pete has also brought about the app's integration with social media platforms such as Facebook to provide artists and venues with a thorough, one-stop platform through which they can promote their activities and gigs.

"Whilst we're very proud of the new version of The Music App, it all comes down to cementing its status as Australia's most comprehensive gig guide, available 24/7 from the convenience of your pocket."

The Music App version 2.0 is available for free download for iOS (an Android update will follow within the week), and comes hot on the heels of The Music's collaboration with Music Victoria in the creation of their Melbourne Music City app.

That partnership has paved the way for The Music to continue offering its white-label app development services to other organisations; for more information, email craig@themusic.com.au.
