With their new album, The Magic Whip, due out April 24, you’ll have plenty of time to get your head around the band’s new material. The Brit-pop outfit haven’t released a studio album in 12 years, so these tunes are a sound for sore ears. After pulling out of Big Day Out last year, their inclusion on the Splendour line-up makes them one of the more anticipated acts.
No stranger to Australian festivals, Australia’s heard a lot from The Wombats as of late. Their new record, Glitterbug, scored triple j’s feature album at the start of the month, and the band played two intimate Australian shows in March. The band gave us a track-by-track insight into the new record last week, which you can check out here.
If Mark Ronson can give street cred to Bruno Mars, he can do anything. The internationally acclaimed producer did a one-off DJ set in Sydney to promote the hit album Uptown Special, and fans will get another chance to catch him in action this July.
Of Monsters & Men graced the Splendour In The Grass stage with their presence in 2013 and also played two sold-out sideshows. The Icelandic favourites fit the mould perfectly, as evident with their most recent single, Crystals, which is taken from their forthcoming album, Beneath The Skin.
There’s been a line-up shift since we last saw Death Cab For Cutie, with the indie-rock outfit parting ways with founding member Chris Walla. Their return to Australia will see them bring their new album, Kintsugi, with them. Eight albums in and they still know how to pen a classic hook.
Aussie psychedelic-rock juggernauts Tame Impala threw a new single at us from out of nowhere at the start of the month. 'Cause I'm A Man is the first single from Kevin Parker and co since they dropped Lonerism in 2012 and dominated the world.
