Eighth full-length 'Kintsugi' is due in March

More Death Cab For Cutie More Death Cab For Cutie

Long-standing indie-rock darlings Death Cab For Cutie have unveiled the official lyric video for Black Sun, the first single to be taken from their impending eighth full-length album — and their last with now-departed founding member Chris Walla —  Kintsugi.

The track — much like most of the band's post-Transatlanticism material — will undoubtedly polarise fans of the band further into their probably now-entrenched opinions of Death Cab's direction, the fan base having progressively split into loosely defined factions of varying levels of support for the past decade of output (often, bizarrely, tied to frontman Ben Gibbard's state of mind at the time, fans espousing the benefits and drawbacks of his 'sad' era, his 'happy' era, his 'sad again' era, etc), though, regardless of where you subjectively stand, it sure is nice that there isn't a minutes-long, repetitive bass-driven intro to speak of this time around, so that's a start.

Kintsugi is due for international release on 31 March this year.
