How the Aussies fared in the States this week

Two vastly different Aussie acts made their mark on the US Charts this week, with iconic rock outfit AC/DC leading the way with their new album Rock Or Bust.

The LP, which debuted at one here in Australia earlier in the week, landed at three in the Billboard 200, just behind That's Christmas To Me by Pentatonix and Taylor Swift's all-conquering 1989. Rock Or Bust also nabbed a top three debut in the UK Charts this week.

The other Aussie making inroads in the US is Vance Joy, who has enjoyed a recent, steady climb back up both the singles and albums charts. His worldwide hit Riptide has moved into the Hot 100 top 40, sitting at 37 this week. The song, which also nabbed the number one position on Oman's iTunes chart recently, is nearing platinum certification in the States and could very well do so once the Christmas/New Year period is behind us.

His debut album Dream Your Life Away has moved considerably up the Billboard 200 this week, jumping from 76 to 58. It peaked at 17 earlier this year.

Joy was recently announced as the main support act for Swift during her massive 2015 The 1989 World Tour in both North America and Australia, not long after the Shake It Off singer covered Riptide, the video of which went viral.
