Country and blues reign supreme

The NSW Tourism Awards have named the state's best festivals overnight, with Tamworth Country Music Festival emerging as the winner.

The long-running event, which takes place in January each year, took out the gold prize in the category Major Festivals & Events, with Byron Bay's Easter long weekend extravaganza Bluesfest walking away with silver. Vivid Sydney won bronze.

Another notable mention on the night was country and rock event Deni Ute Muster, which took home bronze in the category of Festivals & Events. This is the second award in the past month for Deni, which won Best Regional Event at the recent 2014 Australian Event Awards. Bluesfest walked away with Best Cultural, Arts Or Music Event at the same ceremony.

The 25 annual NSW Tourism Awards were held at Sydney's Dockside Pavilion in Darling Harbour. For more on the winners, head to the official NSW Tourism Awards website.
