Three New Soundwave Bands You Need To Know

They might turn out to be your new favourite bands

With the second Soundwave artist announcement dropping earlier today and the third due sometime before Christmas, you’ve got plenty of time to familiarise yourself with the new talent.

Out of the 15 new acts added to the bill, there are some Soundwave regulars like Dragonforce and Bayside, but also some names you might not instantly recognise. We've picked out three sweet acts you should get your head around.

Lower Than Atlantis

UK alt-rockers Lower Than Atlantis deliver punchy, guitar-driven tunes at their finest. It’s like classic rock has collided with the origins of pop punk, and listing “fucking up” and “binge drinking” as their influences, you know their set at Soundwave 2015 is going to be a big one. They’ve been kicking around since 2007, and the four-piece delivered their fourth album in October.

Le Butcherettes

If Le Butcherettes is a new name to you, perhaps the band’s leader might shed some insight into the act. The garage pop/punk outfit is fronted by Teri Gender Bender, who also sings for Bosnian Rainbows, which features Omar Rodríguez-López (The Mars Volta). Much like the intriguing video below, their live show often plays host to odd props like household cleaning items and blood covered clothing. Rodriguez-Lopez also produces the band, and had a hand in single Henry Don’t Got Love.

Killer Be Killed

Speaking of supergroups, they don’t come much grander in the heavy realm than US alt-metallers Killer Be Killed. You might not have heard of them, but you’d have to be living under a rock if you haven’t heard of the bands associated. Fronted by The Dillinger Escape Plan frontman Greg Pucinato, the band features guitarist and ex-Sepultura member Max Cavalera (Soulfly, Cavalera Conspiracy), bassist Troy Sanders (Mastodon), Dave Elitch (The Mars Volta).

Lower Than Atlantis, Le Butcherettes and Killer Be Killed join an already massive bill featuring the likes of Faith No More, Soundgarden, Incubus, Slipknot, Slash. For more news and information about the festival, hit our dedicated event page.
