Carlton Dry Independent Charts Steady As Veterans Hang Tough

Paul Kelly re-emerges in the top 10, while The Angels put in a double showing in the top 20

The Carlton Dry Independent Music Charts have experienced a relatively calm week, with previous respective top-four placeholders Sheppard (Bombs Away), Sia (1000 Forms Of Fear), Hillsong (No Other Name) and Chet Faker (Built On Glass) holding on to their upper-echelon rankings of the Carlton Dry Indie Album chart.

Meanwhile, veteran Aussie artists Russell Morris, Paul Kelly, The Angels and The Wiggles have all made appearances in the top 20. Morris' acclaimed recent LP Van Diemen's Land rounds out the top five, while Kelly steps out at the highest placing of the three, with Songs From The South, Volume 1 & 2 LP making its return to the charts after some time away at #6 to add a 75th week to its total lifespan on the ladder, possibly spurned on by the recent announcement of his Merri Soul Sessions six-month release plan.

The Angels make two appearances — at #11, with Greatest Hits Live, and #15, for Volume 1 of their 40 Years Of Rock two-parter — while The Wiggles' retrospective Hot Potatoes! The Best Of The Wiggles falls a little outside the top 10, coming in at #13.

The sole debut on the Albums Chart this week comes courtesy of Like Thieves, who slide in to the #20 cut-off spot with their new EP Autumn's Twilight.

It's a similar story over on the Singles Chart for the week, with ascendant chanteuse and Dungog Festival drawcard Meg Mac and her cut Roll Up Your Sleeves the only brand new entrant on the list, coming in at #15 — just one place shy of last-week-debutant Allday and You Always Know The DJ (#14).\

The top five singles remain unchanged from last week, with album-chart dominators Sheppard (Geronimo), Sia (Chandelier), Illy (Tightrope), Hilltop Hoods (Won't Let You Down) and Vance Joy (Mess Is Mine) comfortable in their previous spots. Perhaps in the wake of his triumphant set at Splendour In The Grass, Joy's ubiquitous Riptide enjoyed a stronger week than last, too, shifting up a spot to back right up against Mess Is Mine, at #6.

Prolific tweeter Chet Faker also manages a back-to-back effort for the week, taking out #10 and #11 with Gold and Talk Is Cheap, as well as appearing a third time alongside fellow hot commodity Flume, with their joint effort Drop The Game materialising on the charts once more at #19.
