Full list of the winners
Sydney producer and beat-wiz Flume has dominated tonight's Carlton Dry Independent Music Awards, picking up four of Australia's premier awards for the independent industry.
Hotly tipped after featuring all over the nominations, Flume, who was not at the awards as he is touring in New Zealand, picked up four awards and is joined by Melbourne singer songwriter Vance Joy and his city-mates King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard – who both received two – as the night's top achievers. King Gizzard's second award – the Carlton Dry Global Music Grant – is worth $50,000 and they walk away as the inaugural winners of the grant designed to establish an Australian artist overseas.
Flume won Best Artist, Best Album as well as Best Dance Album and Best Dance Single. The only category he was nominated for, but didn't win, was Best Single Or EP, which went to Vance Joy's Got Only Love You When You're Dancing. Joy also won Breakthrough Artist. Flume's label Future Classic picked up the Best Indie Label award.
Held at Revolt in Melbourne, elsewhere there were wins for Seth Sentry in hip hop, Catherine Britt in country, Paul Kelly in blues and roots and Amy Dickinson in classical.
