Video was "a factor" in their exclusion.

More Dune Rats More Dune Rats

Brisbane band Dune Rats may be feeling some of the consequences of their impressive partying ways today as they reveal they've been left off a festival bill in the Vietnamese city of Hanoi.

A post from the band on Facebook today seemed to suggest that their notorious bong smoking clip for the song Red Light, Green Light was the reason they weren't allowed to play.

“We had a fucking mad gig tee'd up for your old mates Dune Rats in Hanoi, Vietnam next month that would have paid for our flights/ accom and everything, living the dream right...” the post began. “Then they caught a wiff off the old bong video clip. Ah wew more for us den. Straya” [sic]

Hanoi's CAMA Festival was the event they were set to play, a one day festival that features fellow Brisbane band The Cairos, Brazil's Turtle Giant, Germany's Raggabund and plenty more.

Giles Cooper of CAMA Festival spoke to theMusic.com.au this afternoon about the band's forced withdrawl from the line-up, saying the clip was a factor, but not the reason per se.

“We love Dune Rats' music and we are sorry not to be hosting them here this time,” Cooper said. “We do hope we can find another opportunity in the future.  I'll go further to note that we never said the video was the only reason we didn't go ahead, just that it was a factor.

“You have to understand the environment we're operating in – it's not the easiest for promoting live international music unfortunately and we all want to be able to do more events.”

Dune Rats intimated to theMusic.com.au that they were not entirely sure why they were no longer on the bill and as such have not commented – further than their Facebook post – as yet.
