Festival's future has been in doubt for a week
The Harvest Festival has been cancelled, according to Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, who told fans on their Facebook page that they would still be making the trip to Australia.
Last week festival promoter AJ Maddah, who's also behind the Soundwave festival and was named the music industry's most powerful person recently, issued a call to arms for Brisbane fans amid slow ticket sales. Two days later, the whole event was under a cloud of uncertainty.
Earlier today Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, who are on the bill alongside Franz Ferdinand, Massive Attack and Neutral Milk Hotel, told fans, “You may have already heard that Harvest Festival has been cancelled (sic), but we want to let you know that BRMC is still coming to Australia. Details for the Australian tour will be announced shortly. We will see you soon.”
There has been no official word from promoters on thew future of the event, but if it has been cancelled it is believed it will be broken up into a number of national tours for the artists – including Neutral Milk Hotel.

Previously Maddah said, "Since BDO announced a very top heavy Harvest-centric line-up (Blur, Arcade Fire, Lumineers, etc), sales have died. Which is understandable tbh. As a small boutique festival with emphasis on arts & experience we can't compete. We're heartbroken seeing our favourite child get sickly and are doing everything to make it work."
