English musician and well-known left wing activist Billy Bragg has revealed some personal details about the writing and production of his 2012 record, Tooth & Nail, admitting his own relationship infallibilities and the importance of love songs.

Bragg sat down with theMusic yesterday, not long after completing his keynote address at BIGSOUND, sharing some sweet details about his new record and the love of touring Brisbane, as well as equaling sharing the problems of love and relationships to problems in political life.

“There was songs on the album about, you know,  songs like Chasing Rainbows and Handyman Blues, that are not about the political struggle but about an equally great struggle, which is how do you maintain a long-term relationship…” said Bragg.

“…I've been with my partner now for 22 years, and, you know, I don't always live up to her expectations but I do my best and we work it out together.

“And that struggle to me is as interesting as a songwriter, but also as important as how we make our society, as writing about unions and writing about politics.”

Billy Bragg will be back on Aussie shores in March next year for a run of dates including an appearance at WOMADelaide, with tickets going on sale on Monday. The tour is proudly presented by theMusic.com.au. Check out the details below.
