Angus, Malcolm and George must have had a pretty good year.
The Young family – meaning Angus Young, Malcolm Young and George Young – have found their way back into the esteemed list of families considered to be Australia's wealthiest as the Business Review Weekly magazine today publishes its list of the 50 richest families in the country.
Angus and Malcolm Young are, of course, lead and rhythm guitarists respectively of one of the world's biggest bands, AC/DC. Considering the revenue that band pull in year-on-year, added to the fact that the band's catalogue was recently made available digitally around the world and a blockbuster ad their song recently appeared in, it's no surprise to see them back among the top earners.
George Young was a member of The Easybeats and, along with Harry Vanda, wrote some of the biggest rock songs to ever come out of this country, including Friday On My Mind, Evie Parts 1, 2 & 3, Love Is In The Air and Good Times. They also produced many of AC/DC's most highly regarded LPs.

The Young's have re-entered the list in 48th position with combined earnings of $255 million over the past year. The earnings are just a smidgen of the kind of money being pulled in by the top earning families in the country. Top billed family, the Smorgons, raked in $2.64 billion this year.
While the Young boys were born in Scotland and Angus and George presently live in the Netherlands and Portugal, they are still Australian citizens and, as such, considered Australian artists. They are the only entertainers to make the 2013 list.
