Sometimes, it's hard not to wake up and feel like you've been transplanted to another era.

Seriously — it's 2016 and Frenzal Rhomb are still touring, Anthony Green's back in Saosin, Cheez TV appears to be still viable... and revered, veteran US punk outfits Screeching Weasel and MxPx are heading off on an international tour together that even includes dates Down Under.

The news was brought to the bands' die-hard fan-base by way of an "Important Tour Announcement" video, featuring Screeching Weasel frontman (and sole remaining founder) Ben Weasel and a cast of cuddly li'l stuffed Aussie animals, all of whom appear to totally perplex the seasoned wailer in the best kind of way. Also, we're pretty sure nobody in this clip has ever heard a koala before.

As you can see in the video, Screeching Weasel will be bringing along old mates MxPx for the ride when they head Australia way for three east-coast capital headline shows this year. The roadshow will get under way in Melbourne, at the Prince Bandroom, on Friday 20 May, heading north to Sydney to play the Manning Bar on Saturday 21 May, and wrapping up with a final showing at Brisbane's Max Watt's premises on Sunday 22 May.

Despite enjoying their peak notoriety in throughout the 1990s, both Screeching Weasel and MxPx have remained active forces in the face of the young, angry upstarts who came in their wake; Screeching Weasel released their first album in 11 years, First World Manifesto back in 2011, with the first act of their two-part next album, Baby Fat coming in 2015 (part two is due next year).

Meanwhile, MxPx's most recent album, Plans Within Plans, dropped back in 2012, the same year founding members Tom Wisniewski and Yuri Riley announced they would no longer be touring with the band (though they have not truly "left", nor broken up). This, consequently, left frontman Mike Herrera as the sole remaining founder still actively playing MxPx tunes in the flesh.

Tickets for the tour go on sale next Friday, 12 February. For more information, see Screeching Weasel's Facebook page.
