VIDEO PREMIERE: Alae - 'Lucy'

New Zealand indie pop act Alae have today shared the music video for their latest track, Lucy, premiering on theMusic.com.au today!

The single has been given the animation treatment for its clip by Auckland-based visual artist Mardo El-Noor, which blurs the lines "between music video and pop art".

"I was inspired by the imagery of the song's lyrics," El-Noor told The Music.

"The music video is a visual-free association of colours and textures, words and shapes, narrative and abstract, while centred around the interplay between a purple-haired Lucy and a green-haired Mary Jane.”

Alae kicked off 2020 with performances at Rhythm & Vines in Gisborne, followed by a headline set at Auckland's Big Gay Out in February. 

The group plan to embark on a headline tour of Australia and New Zealand later in the year as COVID restrictions begin to ease.
