More PLANET More PLANET

Sydney-bred rock outfit Planet are all set to end 2016 with a packed calendar, joining British India's upcoming tour as supports and making their way to a handful of festivals in NSW before the year's out.

With the band set to kick off their immediate run of shows with the stalwart Aussie indie band tonight, 21 October, in Newcastle, The Music is proud to present the premiere listen of the band's new single, Can't Connect.

Recorded earlier this year, the track was engineered DIY-style by frontman Matty Took, who slaved away on the track in his home studio before passing it along to Studios 301's Lachlan Mitchell (The Jezabels, Little Bastard, The Vines) for mixing. The final result is a sunny, reverb-soaked jam that ambles along with infectious ease; the perfect soundtrack for lazy summer afternoons or a relaxed drive to nowhere in particular.

It's been a swift ascent of late for the inner-west quartet, who recently added to their growing list of accolades by accruing airplay both Down Under, with stalwart local-music champions triple j as well as British station Radio XM UK.

Their live performances over the next few weeks entail five shows with British India — tonight's show, plus appearances on the Central Coast, in Canberra, Wagga Wagga and Sydney — as well as a headline show at the Gold Coast's Miami Tavern, in addition to their festival commitments at Festival Of The Sun, in Port Macquarie, and Lost Paradise, in the Glenworth Valley.

Can't Connect is available now but, of course, you can connect with Planet if you want — head to their Facebook page.
