“I like to try and create a world for the story to take place in that’s not quite reality... It’s a place that I hope the audience has not been to before. And all those little details, to me, they’re the ingredients of what this world is made of.”

This week's Carew is based on a real movie and includes his top 12 films from MIFF.

Gin Wigmore digs deep into her record collection to tell us about some of her favourites.

“But, weirdly enough, people kept sending me pictures and letters saying: ‘My cat is obsessed with your show! It’s never shown any interest in television before, but when your show comes on it stands in front of the telly for the whole show, then leaves when it’s over.’ I literally got 25 photographs of people’s cats looking at my show.”

“It’s, basically, the story of the universal experience of the creative process. You take everything that you have and you funnel it into this one piece of work, then you turn it out unto the world.”

Jake Stone from Bluejuice tells us some of his favourite things.

Anthony Carew has spent the last few days watching films for the Israel Film Fest. He’s giving us his verdict.

“I needed to find very pristine countryside to be the background of this photographic series. However, it was really hard to find that environment; in China, this pure environment that was around even a generation ago is now totally gone.”
