Friday Freebie: Slumberjack - Felon
It's time to get serious.. Today marks the probably the heaviest - and most exciting - Friday Freebie we've had the chance to share with you in some time. We've been following the progress of young Morgan and Fletcher AKA Slumberjack since their inception last year, and their latest release on the Die High Records label we feel marks a turning point. Their production game has always been on point, but Felon has taken what we know about the duo's penchant for the bass-heavy and turned it all the way up to down for what. With echoes of TNGHT (R.I.P), it delves head first into a deep, dank and dark club, only coming up for air with a delicate piano outro to pull you back to reality. Basically, It's the business, and you can cop a free download/stream it below, and follow the dudes on FACEBOOK, because we're looking forward to whatever comes next (which, coincidentally, will be destroying the Perf Stage at our own Circo Festival).

London Grammar - Wasting My Young Years (The Aston Shuffle Remix)
Cuz it's the weekend and we feel like dancing to emotional club bangers.. If you tried to count the number of times people have remixed London Grammar you'd probably be counting for longer than you have left to live. Hey Now in particular has copped it over the past six months, which is why when we happened upon this rework of their latest single Wasting My Young Years, from Aussie duo The Aston Shuffle, we became a) happy, b) dancing, and c) thinking about the weekend. Hannah from LG's vocals will sound amazing over basically anything, but it doesn't mean you can't fuck up a remix. Fortunately this one is quite the opposite, with a fairly chilled housey take on it, and the addition of some steel drums to spice things up a bit. A restrained take on a beautiful song, that played at the right time will no doubt promote much hugging and proclamations of love in the club:

Interview - Northeast Party House
A debut album is as good a reason as any for a party, right?. In 2012, I was wandering around Brisbane during BIGSOUND trying to find my friend, when I heard an explosion of sound come from above me. I went into the Zoo, and this was the best decision I made all conference. Greeted with one hell of a show, super catchy songs, and crazy energetic live show, I was immediately hooked on Northeast Party House. Now this young Melbourne band are ready to really show you what they’ve got. They’ve done the groundwork, perfecting their live show, and have released one of the funkiest dance albums to come out of Australia this year. On Any Given Weekend (out now on Stop Start), featuring highlights The Haunted and, my personal favourite, Youth Allowance, Northeast Party House offer up some seriously good jams that would actually suit quite well as a party soundtrack. Take my word for it – you’re NOT going to want to miss their upcoming tour. Check out our recent interview with one of the dudes o

A night for the vinyl edz out there, featuring Touch Sensitive, John Wall and Ariane.. Sunday 8 June (Queen's Birthday long weekend for you east-coasters) sees some serious vinyl fanatics going for a dig through their (EPIC) crates for an all-vinyl assault on the Cliff Dive Bar. Sexy bass basher Touch Sensitive will be joined by John Wall and lady about town Ariane for a no-CDs, no-laptops, no USBs affair from 9pm til 3am. How deep will they be digging? Well we have it on good authority that Touch Sensitive's record collection rolls some 5000+ deep, while Fuzzy director Wall has a ridiculously large 20,000 he'll be flipping through. Expect plenty of late night grooves, from italo to funk, disco, balearic and late '90s/early '00s house and all that lies between. Free entry, long weekend Sunday and vinyl grooves - what's not to love? More info from the team at UNDRCRTL.
