New Music, James Blake - '200 Press'
Preview a new wondrously whack, soul-infused house jam from James Blake.. Sometimes we think James Blake is some kind of alien humanoid who fell to Earth to bless us with incredible music from the future, and soon he's going to disappear back to wherever he came ftom, leaving a trail of dumbfounded club music fans in his wake...Today Blake upped an official preview of a new track, which drops in full December 8th, on the Soundcloud of the label imprint he founded with Dan Foat (R & S Records) and Airhead: 1-800-Dinosaur (read more about these dudes in this great Dummy interview). It's a wondrously whacky, loose lounge number with a low, warped Al Green soul sample, reportedly made using just synthesisers and a computer. 200 Press because "only 200 are going to be pressed up", Blake told BBC. A BBC radio rip of James Blake's 200 Press has been on Youtube for a few months now. Fans of Blake's more easy-to-swallow, vocal-led ballads probably think this is some kind of aberration, but Blak

10/10 Would Listen: Cloudwaves
10 November selections from RTRFM's wavy rap and weird club show - Cloudwaves.. Cloudwaves is a radio show making the late night a great night on RTRFM. On a Friday morning from 12am - 2am, the Wavvy gang - Sleepyhead, Aslan, Dani M, Dan Dalton and Jai Chouhan - select tunes you can get wild and wavy to in your crib, car or club, showcasing a supa-fresh mix of turn up raps, sexy, futuristic R&B, chill low-lying raps, and experimental club tracks. Show Coordinator Dani Marsland rounds up her faves from the last month. 1. Joker – Midnight You don’t know hugeness until you’ve heard this towering track. It’s the first we’ve heard for a while from 26 year-old Bristol producer Liam Mclean – Joker - who, along with a few mates like plastician and Guido, were integral in founding the ‘purple’ genre of dubstep, the big, psychedic, swirly, G-funk-infused style of dubstep that went on to stylistically influence young producers like Hudson Mohawke, Com Truise, Kuedo, and Swindle. 10 Essential Tour Songs With Julia Stone
Julia Stone gives us the soundtrack to the duo's tour life.. Following a series of intimate shows earlier this year, Angus & Julia Stone are getting back to the bigger venues February next year for a massive Australian tour. A tour that will no doubt see plenty of down time between shows, on the road, with nothin' to do but listen to music. So we thought we'd ask Julia what tunes get her through those down times, and she provided us with a list of music that we reckon will probably go down pretty smooth any time: 1. The Roots - Right On feat. Joanna Newsom I love running to this song. I try to go running a few times a week and this always kicks it off. Such a good pump up. 2. Beck - Blue Moon This is my alarm clock song. Waking up can be rough after late shows, and this makes the mornings a little easier. Or harder because you just want to stay asleep and listen to the song in your dreams.  3. Beth Orton - Central Reservation I like something about the lyrics in this song. Somehow th

How To Dress Well 'You and I Are The Same' Mixtape
Hear How To Dress Well's left-field reworks of FKA Twigs and Sia.. Just wanna marry Juana. Just wanna marry Tom Krell. Six months after the release of his third studio album, What Is This Heart?, Chicago-based singer / producer has made a new mixtape, his first since that great tape he made hungover a year ago. For years Tom Krell's Tumblr was an excellent source of discovery for new, strange music works, with music nerd Tom posting annual round-ups of his favourite tracks and albums - he's taken that music nerdery across to his mixes, steering us in the direction of some loose new stuff, including this great Medifired track, Spring Is Here, a slowed 'n' screwed, cloudy take on Backstreet Boys' I Want It That Way.   I love how artists like Krell, and Ryan Hemsworth, just do away with pretention in their mixes and just let their mixes go everywhere, including whatever songs are moving them at the time; like how Ryan puts Broken Social Scene into mixes alongside modern raps - Krell's don

Pilerats X-Mas Party Guide
A Pilerats Pocket Dictionary Guide to the Pilerats X-Mas Party.. You might have heard the phrase ‘salad days’ bandied about before when people are describing times of youth and wildness. We decided that, here at Pilerats, as content-creators we are what you eat, and if Pilerats were a musical salad and these are your wild and youthful salad days, we’d like to make sure that as well as being comprised of lettuce leaves (well-known tunes and artists we love) - which are the base of any good salad – that we have some wilder salad ingredients thrown in from time to time, because we like flexing our individuality and discovering new weird crunchy unconventional things amongst the lettuce. Like pepitas. Or peanuts. Or pear. To wit: we’re merging districts with I.C.S.S.C. for a Christmas death match party (event HERE), and we’ve programmed some more forward-thinking salad ingredients to make your night extra wild. Get to know them via our Dictionary definitions below, and grab your cheaper pr

New Music: Torus - Temples EP
Torus' new EP, Temples, is a sweeping, synth-led, Shlohmo-like sonic experience.. This came as a recommendation from my weirdo-music appreciating English mate Keith, whose always got his head deep in the 'Cloud, and who always turns up great new stuff for me. Torus was his suggestion for me this week, with a little 'sounds like Shlohmo' sweetener thrown in, and Keith’s really pulled through. A recent graduate of the Red Bull Music Academy, Torus - Joeri Woudstra – is a producer from The Netherlands. Temples, his latest EP, was released today and its four tracks’ worth of woozy, bass-heavy atmospheric production to delight in. Whilst rich in tangible emotion, Torus’ tracks go more ‘large’ than Shlohmo’s. A producer like EPROM comes to mind as a comparison point, particularly on Creepin', a huge, synth-led mammoth of a track that could moonlight as a Southern hip hop instrumental. Other times, such as track U R, his inverted sonic excursions are more ethereal, and would make Clams Casino

New Music - Kitty, '❄♡Frostbite♡❄' EP
Danny Brown's fave female rapper Kitty makes a drastic move into pop with new EP '❄♡Frostbite♡❄'. New York-via-Florida's Kitty (ex-Kitty Pryde) is taking her bedroom rap / Tumblr game into the world of sugary pop, introducing us to her new, lighter approach on just released EP ❄♡Frostbite♡❄. Listening to the five-track ❄♡Frostbite♡❄ is going to come as a bit of a shock for Kitty fans - after all, this is the chick that toured the States supporting Danny Brown (and smartly weighed in on the whole infamous blow job on stage thing), collabed with Riff Raff and made cutesy bedroom rap videos featuring left field weirdos such as Lakutis (Ay Shawty). Kitty's not mad at rap though, she just wasn't confident making it anymore - "I kind of got over hip-hop, and got over writing sad weird songs, and I started writing these pop songs," Kitty told VICE, "I think one of the reasons my songs are getting happier is because I like them now." ❄♡Frostbite♡❄ still sees Kitty maintaining a DIY approach; a

New Music: A$AP Ferg (prod. Clams Casino) - Talk It
A$AP Mob member Ferg gets deep over a Clams Casino beat on new track 'Talk It'.. Approaching the release of his Gangsta Grillz mixtape, the DJ Drama-hosted Ferg Forever, A$AP Ferg released this track, which is a little lighter and softer than we’re used to from the usually quite intense, turnt-up Trap Lord. New Jersey producer Clams Casino (Mike Volpe), provides the hazy, spacey beat, and Ferg gives him a nice old shout out "All I ever wanted was a Clams Casino beat / To talk about these loyal fans that be talkin' about me". Ferg is no doubt a fan of Clams work thanks to Clams’ work with Ferg’s fellow mob member A$AP Rocky: Clams played a big hand with production for Rocky’s releases Live Love ASAP (‘11) and Long Live Asap (’13). Ferg gets introspective on the track, reflecting on his personal struggle with fame, the role of his fans, and even touching on recent political issues via the recent Michael Brown shooting verdict "I mean we when I say Ferguson they talk about me / Little bro
