The UK house duo take us through a night on the decks ahead of their Australian tour.. The 2 Bears are British producer/DJ duo Raf Rundell and Joe Goddard (Hot Chip), who've been traipsing around the globe delving into a variety of styles including house, hip hop, 2-step, garage and more, and have been frequent visitors to our shores since their 2009 formation. They're back down under over the Australia Day weekend, and given they're wealth of knowledge in the dance music realm, we thought we'd find out what a perfect night may consist of for them behind the 1's and 2's. A dark and brooding affair from the Laneway-bound producer.. Is there an artist whose visual and audio aesthetic is more considered than Flying Lotus? The dude's output feels so meticulously crafted he almost feels like a higher being. Alright maybe we're being a little hyperbolic with those kind of statements, but whatever, he's one of the world's most exciting electronic artists, and any new release is met with feverish anticipation around these parts. Last year's You're Dead! album was another beautiful melding of the audio and the visual, and we're looking forward to seeing his Layer 3 show in Australia this month at the Red Bull Music Academy x Future Classic Stage at St Jerome's Laneway Festival. Welcome to the washed out lo-fo jazz-hop world of Mordialloc, Victoria-based duo Slum Sociable.. Dubbed as Mordialloc’s filthiest animals in the presser I received about Slum Sociable, that is unfortunately about all I'm able to tell you at this juncture. The first thing it did was introduce a place known as Mordialloc to me, which I now know is in Victoria, and whatever goes on out there has produced an absolutely killer piece of lo-fi psychedelic-pop. It first appeared on influential UK website The Line Of Best Fit, and it's not hard to see why - the trip hop elements that have become synonymous with the Bristol area of the world abound on Anyway, and instantly stamp them as an act to watch in 2015. Watch FKA Twigs hang from her own hair in new video Pendulum.. She was one of the artists we couldn’t take our eyes off in 2014; and 26 year-old British singer FKA Twigs seems intent on maintaining our attention in 2015; yesterday receiving two nominations for the BRIT Awards -  British Female Solo Artist and British Breakthrough Act – on the back of her Mercury Prize nomination for her breakthrough album of last year, LP1 (out now on Young Turks), yesterday releasing her most transfixing video yet for LP1 track Pendulum.  I'm your sweet little love maker, sings FKA Twigs, as the professional dancer, clad in a nude leotard, slowly spins (a human Pendulum, one assumes), suspended in mid-air, in a complex harness of rope, intertwined with her braids, so she’s essentially being supported by her own hair. Canadian producer Caribou, the producer behind one of the most emotional dancefloor tracks of 2014, Can’t Do Without You, has curated a 1000 track playlist, called 1000 Songs For You, today, as a means to give props to all the fans who’ve gotten behind him. “Roughly speaking, this is a musical history of my life,” says Snaith of the eclectic playlist, that goes literally everywhere: Moodyman, Can, Usher, Pusha T, The Zombies, Kanye West, and more.
