The Music is proud to launch The Music Sessions, taking Australia’s most-read music site into the offline world to celebrate albums, artists, and the warm sound of vinyl.

The first session will celebrate Fanning Dempsey National Park, creating a unique listening experience on the eve of their debut album release, The Deluge, on 1 August in Brisbane, hosted by Richard Kingsmill. The Music Sessions are events for fans and artists to come together to listen to an album together for the first time. The night will be the first of regular events to be held around the country, celebrating amazing new albums.

Fanning Dempsey National Park is a collaboration between seminal Australian singer-songwriters Bernard Fanning (Powderfinger) and Paul Dempsey (Something For Kate), who have been responsible for some of the most loved tunes in the great Australian songbook. Their collaborative ten-track album, The Deluge, is released to the world on 2 August and is available now for pre-order. Fans have already had a taste of the record with the title track, The Deluge, released last week.

At the inaugural The Music Sessions event, punters will get the opportunity to listen to the album straight off the vinyl and participate in a unique Q&A with industry legend Richard Kingsmill, unpacking the record with Bernard Fanning and Paul Dempsey live. The room will have the opportunity to sit and soak in the album together, in a rare experience to slow down and celebrate the art of songwriting, production and musical artistry before unpacking its creation with the artists.

“This is a great opportunity The Music is creating for fans,” said Richard Kingsmill. “To be the very first to experience a new album in full and to connect with that artist at the same time is sure to be a thrill for everyone. Albums often take years of work to put together, so The Music Sessions promise to be really unique events to celebrate all that effort and to bring fans together face to face with their favourite artists.”

“This is such an exciting new idea from The Music”, said Bernard Fanning. “It’s such a rare opportunity these days to be able to sit down and have a dedicated listen to a whole record. Then, to be able to do it with fans there listening with us for the first time and being quizzed on the process by The King himself: It’s a winning combination.”
