"A 50 degrees celsius day out in the desert where we intended to shoot, on a public holiday with little to no phone reception... Silly idea..."
Fresh off the back of his grand-final reaching stint on The Masked Singer Australia, musician and actor Axle Whitehead has returned with a brand new music video, premiering right here with The Music.
Reaching deep into his country and blues roots, the singer has pulled out all the stops with his twangy new tune One Gun, with a vid that has taken nearly half a decade to finish up.
"Justin Hanrahan is a great friend of mine. Based in LA, an incredible director of photography, editor and film director in his own right," Whitehead explained of the creative mind behind the clip.
"He owed me a favour so offered to shoot this video. It all began four years ago in LA. On the day of the shoot our prop car, a '50s Cadillac, broke down at 5am. A blessing in disguise because it turned out to be a 50 degrees celsius day out in the desert where we intended to shoot, on a public holiday with little to no phone reception... Silly idea..."
He continued, "We ended up just shooting his son Indy in the afternoon to get something at least! Four years later, we spoke about the release of this track and wanted to finish what we’d started. Finding a crew and locations in Victoria during Covid provided a challenge. Justin being in LA, he directed from there, and my partner and I produced from our property outside of Melbourne which provided the location and storyline. We found an incredible cameraman, James Rose to shoot, then managed to get the hard drives to LA in time for Justin to start cutting. We are all incredibly proud of the finished product and we hope you enjoy!"
