"I realised I had to release it on planet Earth now that it had been to space."

Aus actor/musician Keegan Joyce has returned with a brand new musical project - hitting the scene with a bang under the new moniker Alter Echo.

A sharp pivot for the star into the world of indie electro pop, Joyce has come out swinging with the brand new vid for Make A Break For The Ocean - premiering right here with TheMusic.

An atmospheric an out of this world tune, the song has literally travelled to new heights thanks to being taken on board the Blue Origin ‘New Shepard’ space craft for a trip into the vast unknown.

"Life is full of serendipitous moments," astronaut Dr Chris Boshuizen explained of the project. "And it turns out that Keegan was deep in creating his new track full of space references and a tribute to one of my greatest heroes, the planetary scientist Carl Sagan. He rushed to finish it in time to make the launch, and I was honoured to carry his new song up to space."

Joyce was equally excited for the opportunity to send his music into the stratosphere, saying, "I mean, who doesn't want their music in space? I sent him the unreleased Make A Break For The Ocean. It was only after I sent it I realised how the themes of space exploration had on the track."

He continued, "there's a Carl Sagan quote, and I mention 'redshift' stars (thanks year 7 physics). It was then I realised I had to release it on planet Earth now that it had been to space."
