Worldly Brisbane-bred troubadour Harley Young and his talented band, The Haymakers, are gearing up for the release of their new full-length album, Flinders Parade, on 16 February, but ahead of its official release theMusic.com.au is stoked to be hosting an exclusive stream of the full record so you can start pleasing your ears without delay.
If you caught Young & The Haymakers' recent single Balls Deep In Boondall, you have a sketch of an idea of what you're in for — clever, observational lyrics and themes steeped in personal experience and environments, sure to strike a familiar chord regardless of whether you grew up around the traps of south-east Queensland or not.
The wider album is something of a tribute to Young's gestation ground of the suburb of Sandgate, with field recordings, street references and other distinct nods to "the 4017" all rife throughout the album's 12 tracks of laconically laced aural good times.
If you dig the sounds of Harley Young & The Haymakers on record, then you'll be pleased to know that there are a handful of opportunities on the horizon for you to catch them doing their thing in the flesh as they embark on a tour in support of Flinders Parade. They kick things off at The Toff In Town, Melbourne, this Thursday, 12 February, alongside Go Go Fish, Rabble Rouser and Actor Buddhists. From there, they head to Sydney's MUM World Bar on Friday, 20 February, alongside Go Go Fish and Dr Goddard, The Great Northern, in Newcastle, on Saturday, 21 February; the Currumbin Creek Tavern on Friday, 27 February; and wrap it all up a month later at home in Brisbane at the Beetle Bar on Saturday, 28 March.
