'The album is what we thought was missing from guitar music at the time.'
Melbourne sextet Fan Girl are here to liven up your Thursday with their rambunctious debut album Elephant Room, premiering exclusively today on theMusic.com.au.
They blew fans away with their latest single Small Town which, somehow, manages to be disruptively raucous and incredibly slick at the same time.
The rest of the album collates around the push-pull of crunchy guitar music and smooth, ridiculously catchy riff-centric rock. It’s an LP that explores the light and darkness of the outfit.
"Musically, the album is what we thought was missing from guitar music at the time," the band said.

"Visceral, colourful and direct, without being macho or over-polished. For the most part, it is an exercise in over-complicating simple things. We really feel like it sounds pretty unique in today's musical landscape, for better or worse."
A surprise comes in the form of mid-album track Cold Tea, a delicately acoustic tune that still maintains that cynical Fan Girl sneer, thanks to the heartbreaking lyrics being brought front and centre.
"Lyrically, Elephant Room details a youthful but increasingly jaded and realistic look at life," the group said.
"It resembles the twilight period between hedonistic naivety and slightly older, world-wearied apathy."
Elephant Room is slated for release this Friday (23 March) with the band playing two exclusive shows in Melbourne and Sydney during April and May to celebrate the new LP.
