"A nostalgic look back at an era of singer-songwriters long gone."

On his debut full-length, Brisbane's Zac Gunthorpe howls and hollers across ten folk-rock numbers that take a nostalgic look back at an era of singer-songwriters long gone.

Although he cites his major influences as Neil Young and Bob Dylan, the album feels equal parts Willie Nelson and Rodriguez, albeit less introspective. At first a chilled-out stroll, the album moves to a darker tone around the half-way mark, High On The Mountain and Sea Dirge introducing a country twang. While Self-Conscious Princess hasn't got a lot going on, the final tune, Beautiful & Sad is a surprising, indie-rockin' epic.
