"This is an excellent record"

More White Sea More White Sea

Morgan Kibby has become a central part of M83's success over their last two breakthrough albums, her own profile rising in sync with the band. She's recorded her first solo material since The Romanovs first EP in 2003 under the name White Sea, and although her new outfit shares many similarities to Gonzalez's project (full-throated cinematic synth-pop arrangements are central to her aesthetic), there's a fresh, neon-lit-gothic-fantasy Prince vibe saturating her new work. That, coupled with traditional song structure set In Cold Blood far apart from anything Kibby has done so far. This is an excellent record.
