"Without doubt, the trump card of the humble catalogue of EPs to date."

"Three dudes from Melbourne make pretty electro pop ditties" sounds like a generic grab for review writing, but it's often true of the region's melody makers, and is especially true of Whitaker.

I Am An Animal is, without doubt, the trump card of the humble catalogue of EPs to date, highlighting their nuanced balladry and a steady hand on the production. The stark beat and strum effect in Horizon is tempered by warm, reverb-rich vocals, The Greatest Animal's buzzing '80s clicks and synth pulses are instantly loveable, and So Long's slide guitar lilts along perfectly with Ryan Meeking's earnest pipes.
