Album Review: Weezer - Weezer (White Album)

6 April 2016 | 11:22 am | Steve Bell

"While nothing scales their mid-'90s heights, tunes like the offbeat King Of The World remind why this band remains so beloved. "

More Weezer More Weezer

One of music's most divisive bands continues their late career resurgence.

Weezer's tenth album (and fourth self-titled coloured effort) is vaguely conceptual, a suite of songs concerning 'summertime fun' intertwined with a 'love gone wrong' narrative, allowing them to unleash the upbeat, poppy vibe that's long suited them so well. Even originally dubious singles Thank God For Girls and Do You Wanna Get High? make sense in this context, and while nothing scales their mid-'90s heights, tunes like the offbeat King Of The World and wistful closer Endless Bummer remind why this band remains so beloved.
