Album Review: We Never Learned To Live - Silently I Threw Them Skyward

StarStarStar

"An audacious mix of raw emotional honesty."

More We Never Learned To Live We Never Learned To Live

The debut record from these UK post-hardcore by way of post-rock lads is admirable for its scope.

Silently, I Threw Them Skyward is an audacious mix of raw emotional honesty charting the lows and deeper lows of a mental breakdown, so check your smiles at the door. While the strength of of the band's compositions is undeniable, and will wow most heavy emotional hardcore fans, the monotony of the album does drag it down. Eight-minute percussive-heavy closer, Tasting Paralysis, is a great and daunting way to finish things, though.
