Live Review: WATCH: Tennis 'Origins'

Tennis' video for the lovely 'Origins' mixes retro and modern aesthetics. A testament to Richard Law's videography skills!

Not only do the members of TENNIS work together but they also live together as husband and wife. It sounds like a nightmare, however duo Alaina Moore and Patrick Riley work well in the creative sense, mixing the retro with the original, as in their new video ‘Origins’.

Complementing their vibrant American indie pop, the new music vid sees cheesy villain characters crawling around the snow in balaclavas and skiing around with guns in a mock chase. The footage looks genuinely old and scratchy, but is just the work of their friend and video director Richard Law. Moore doesn’t seem to participate in the boys’ games, but appears in various shots with Brigitte Bardot-esque hats, glasses and wavy blonde hair.

What started out as a bad joke in college about Riley’s sport playing, Tennis are now too good to joke about. Sometimes indie music doesn’t have to only be about angst, uncertainty and disappointment- so sit back and enjoy ‘Origins’ and its naturalness.
