Imagine if you took an experimental indie-pop band and put them together with THE MIGHTY BOOSH. What crazy things would that union spawn? Probably something like this - the video for TANLINES' latest track 'All Of Me', directed by Julian Barratt, founding member of The Boosh.
Off their latest album, Mixed Emotions, TANLINES are offering up 'All Of Me' for free download HERE. It's a catchy song - which BARRATT focuses on in the film clip.
Set in a dingy dive bar, the clip begins with a bunch of elderly patrons sitting around, looking almost dead - until a man comes in with a video tape (who even uses those anymore?) and starts playing it on a tiny CRT TV in the front of the room. It's pretty classically BARRATT: the video turns out to be TANLINES playing 'All Of Me' and before long the old folks get up and start dancing, going from partnered swaying to waddling like penguins and synchronised ducking and jumping.
It's fantastic to see how well a comedian like JULIAN BARRATT can work with a band like TANLINES to create something that is both cohesively meaningful and entertaining.
