Live Review: WATCH: Spiritualized ‘Hey Jane’

Twisted twisted twisted, even not safe for home (NSFH) video 'Hey Jane' by Spiritualized.

With a tag line that states that this clip is NSFW, SPIRITUALIZED’s video for ‘Hey Jane’ may not even be safe for home (NSFH- its this new catchphrase I’m trying out).

A beautiful transvestite ‘Jane’ drops her kid off to school, gets 20 bucks for some car park fellatio and exposes her clip-on breasts all within the first 2 minutes of the 10 minute clip. SPIRITUALIZED provide a twisted upbeat soundtrack to the everyday routine of the desperate main character.

During the day it seems that ‘Jane’ has the intentions of a regular mother - from chasing her son down the street, to nursing her daughter. By nightfall, it becomes dark and violent, like the crashing guitar in the eye of the storm at around the 4 minute mark.

After this, be prepared for what can only be said as being a HUGE twist that follows a cringe worthy, hard to watch scene. The twist may be even more shocking than finding out that Bruce Willis was dead the whole time in The Sixth Sense (SPOILER ALERT: for anyone travelling back in time to the future).

However, the twist can be found to be a poignant social commentary on today’s youth, or am I really that jaded? You be the judge. ‘Hey Jane’ is gritty, raw, dark and NSFH, but probably safe for work depending on your occupation.
